Four online tiers are capability choices, not cheaper retrieval classes
Standard, Premium, Performance, and Accelerated each bundle 1,000 GB of storage and 1,000 GB of outbound transfer, then charge different storage overage rates and fixed monthly fees. None of them charges for retrieval, and Vultr charges no tier for requests. Because the tiers sell different performance and have no read charge to offset, there is no access-frequency crossover between them. [1] [2]
Archive is a separate $6 monthly bundle with 1,000 GB of archive storage, 100 GB of unarchived storage, and 1,000 GB of outbound transfer. Vultr charges no retrieval fee: a restored object is billed as unarchived storage, at $0.018 per GB-month beyond the included 100 GB, for the days you keep it readable, 7 by default. [3] [4] [5]

Restored data erases the 1,000 GB Archive bundle saving after 22.22 days a month
At exactly 1,000 GB stored, the Archive base fee is $12 per month below Standard. Archive includes 100 GB of unarchived storage, so a full 1,000 GB readable copy leaves 900 GB billed at $0.018 per GB-month. That copy costs 900 x $0.018 / 30 = $0.54 per day, and $12 / $0.54 = 22.22 days erases the base-fee saving. Vultr does not say how the included 100 GB applies to a copy kept for only some days; this page and our calculator take it off on each of those days, the reading that gives the larger bill. [3] [1]
With no retrieval or request fees, this is the whole break-even for a restore that stays on Vultr: at the default 7-day window, a full restore costs $3.78, and the saving is gone at the fourth full restore in a month. Downloads cost the same on both tiers, so they do not move it. It changes with stored capacity and with how much you restore; Vultr publishes no minimum storage duration for Archive. [3] [5] [4]

A 2,200 GB public restore pays $12 of downloads on every tier
Every Vultr tier includes 1,000 GB of monthly outbound transfer and charges $0.01 per additional GB. A 2,200 GB public restore therefore costs (2,200 - 1,000) x $0.01 = $12.00 in downloads on any tier. From Archive it adds only the restored data's unarchived storage while you keep it; there is no retrieval or request charge. [1] [3]
A restore only reads the data, so it creates no early-deletion charge. Vultr says Archive has no minimum retention, so deleting archived data early adds no charge either. Small archived objects download directly; larger ones need a restore request first, and Vultr publishes no time for a whole restore. [3] [5]
