Amazon S3 Glacier Deep Archive: each file must be restored before you can download it, which takes up to 12 hours, and Amazon S3 bills each file for at least 180 days.

Oracle OCI Object Storage Archive: each file must be restored before you can download it (Oracle says the first byte comes back within an hour, but not when the whole file is ready), and Oracle bills each file for at least 90 days.

Questions buyers ask about IDrive e2

Does IDrive e2 charge for early deletion?

Not on Pay As You Go. IDrive publishes no minimum storage duration, so deleting or overwriting data does not create a prorated remaining-duration charge.

Can I use IDrive e2 as an immutable backup target?

Yes, conditionally. IDrive documents governance, compliance, legal hold, bucket retention, and a Veeam Object Lock workflow. The checked official pages do not publish a numeric retention range or clearly state whether a separate versioning toggle is required.

Can I use the advertised yearly-plan discount as the recurring e2 rate?

No. The yearly capacity plans are separate from Pay As You Go, and the advertised 50 percent discount applies to the first year only. Later-year standard billing and overuse remain separate terms.
