OVHcloud Object Storage pricing for backup storage

OVHcloud includes public outgoing traffic and S3 operations across the captured Object Storage classes, so retrieval is the restore decision variable. Standard and High Performance have no retrieval charge, Infrequent Access and Active Archive publish different retrieval rates, and Cold Archive says retrieval is charged without publishing the rate in the checked product text.

Price your own workload against every vendor, including the worst-day restore and how long it takes to come back.

What the pricing page does not lead with

  • Included public outgoing traffic does not imply free retrieval.

Infrequent Access and Active Archive publish separate retrieval rates, while Cold Archive leaves its retrieval rate unpublished.

    Source, checked 2026-07-25T15:34:44Z
  • Standard 3-AZ storage is graduated.

Applying the last tier reached to all stored GiB understates the bill.

    Source, checked 2026-07-25T15:34:44Z
  • Cold Archive retrieval is not published in the checked product text.

The lowest storage rate cannot be presented as the cheapest restore without the missing decision meter.

The rest of this vendor's non-obvious rules2 more
  • Infrequent Access has a 30-day minimum and Cold Archive has 180 days; Active Archive's minimum is not published in the checked class guide.

The prorated remainder belongs only to delete, overwrite, move, or transition scenarios. A read-only restore pays retrieval where applicable but does not activate early deletion.

    Source, checked 2026-07-26
  • The captured Paris and Gravelines records use different storage classes, so their price difference is not comparable as a region-only delta.

Changing both class and location at once cannot establish what location alone does to the bill.

Cold Archive full restoreno complete total

Storage class: Cold Archive · Storage GiB: 1,000 · Restored GiB: 1,000 · Internet egress GiB: 1,000 · Mutation: none; read-only restore

Sources: OVHcloud: Public cloud prices: storage and included transfer, checked 2026-07-25T15:34:44Z · OVHcloud: Cold archive: retrieval-fee state, checked 2026-07-25T15:34:44Z

Storage$2.00
Retrievalnot published
Internet egress and requestsnot charged
Early deletiondoes not apply
Totalnot published

Storage = 1,000 x $0.002 = $2.00. The product says retrieval fees apply but does not publish the rate in the checked text. The total therefore remains not published even though public outgoing traffic and requests are included.

Delete Infrequent Access after 10 days$4.36

Storage class: Infrequent Access · Stored GiB: 1,000 · Object age at deletion days: 10 · Minimum storage duration days: 30 · Operation: delete, not restore

Sources: OVHcloud documentation: 30-day minimum and storage rate, checked 2026-07-25T15:34:44Z

First 10 days of storage$1.4527
Remaining 20 minimum-duration days$2.9054
Total$4.36

The 30-day amount is $4.3581. Elapsed storage = $4.3581 x 10/30 = $1.4527. Remaining duration = $4.3581 x 20/30 = $2.9054. Sum = $4.3581, rounded to $4.36. This is a delete scenario.

Delete Cold Archive after 30 days$12.00

Storage class: Cold Archive · Stored GiB: 1,000 · Object age at deletion days: 30 · Minimum storage duration days: 180 · Operation: delete, not restore

Sources: OVHcloud documentation: 180-day minimum and storage rate, checked 2026-07-25T15:34:44Z

First 30 days of storage$2.00
Remaining 150 minimum-duration days$10.00
Total$12.00

At the worked 30-day-month boundary, 180 days is six storage months. First-month storage is $2.00 and the remaining five months are 5 x $2.00 = $10.00. Total minimum-duration storage is $12.00. This mutation charge does not apply to a read-only restore.

Delete Active Archive before an unpublished minimumno complete total

Storage class: Active Archive · Stored GiB: 1,000 · Object age at deletion days: 30 · Operation: delete, not restore

Sources: OVHcloud: Public cloud prices: Active Archive storage rate, checked 2026-07-25T15:34:44Z · OVHcloud documentation: absence of a published Active Archive minimum in the checked class guide, checked 2026-07-26

First 30 days of Active Archive storage$2.00
Minimum-duration remaindernot published
Complete deletion totalnot published
Totalnot published

The captured storage amount is 1,000 GiB x $0.002 = $2.00 for the worked month. The checked class guide does not publish an Active Archive minimum, so no remainder is invented. This is a delete scenario; the existing read-only restore remains free of early deletion.

Every class, and the rules that change its bill

5 classes captured for this vendor. Each rule below is a published condition that moves a real line on the bill, with the page it came from.

Standard 3-AZ4 rules

Online object storage replicated across three availability zones for frequently accessed backup data.

Published rules that move the bill for Standard 3-AZ
RuleValueWhy it moves the bill
Graduated storage$0.0157096 per GiB-month through 51,200 GiB, $0.0140233 through 512,000 GiB, then $0.012337Each band keeps its own rate; the final tier reached must not price all stored data.
Public outgoing traffic, S3 operations, and retrievalnot chargedA read-only public restore adds no modeled transfer, request, or retrieval line for Standard 3-AZ.
Minimum duration and early deletiondoes not applyThe online class has no duration remainder in the captured offer.
Minimum object sizenot publishedNo small-object uplift is inferred.
High Performance4 rules

Online object storage for higher-performance access patterns where the higher storage rate is acceptable.

Published rules that move the bill for High Performance
RuleValueWhy it moves the bill
Storage$0.0202794 per GiB-monthThe rate is higher than Standard and is tied to High Performance eligibility.
Public outgoing traffic, S3 operations, and retrievalnot chargedThe selected online restore has no separate byte or operation lines.
Minimum duration and early deletiondoes not applyNo duration remainder is applied.
Minimum object sizenot publishedNo object-size floor is supported.
Infrequent Access5 rules

Online but infrequently read backup data where lower storage cost offsets paid retrieval.

Published rules that move the bill for Infrequent Access
RuleValueWhy it moves the bill
Storage$0.0043581 per GiB-monthThe lower storage line must be evaluated together with retrieval.
Retrieval$0.0044 per GiBA full restore adds almost as much retrieval cost as one month of storage.
Public outgoing traffic and S3 operationsnot chargedRetrieval remains paid even though transfer and operations are included.
Minimum storage duration30 days with a prorated early-deletion remainderDeleting young data can bill the unused duration. A read-only restore does not.
Minimum object sizenot publishedNo small-object rate is invented.
Active Archive5 rules

Archive-oriented storage with a published paid retrieval rate for recovery workloads.

Published rules that move the bill for Active Archive
RuleValueWhy it moves the bill
Storage$0.0053217 per GiB-monthThe storage saving must be evaluated against the larger restore rate.
Retrieval$0.0212 per GiBA full restore costs about four times the monthly storage line before any other workflow-specific charges.
Public outgoing traffic and S3 operationsnot chargedIncluded transfer does not remove the retrieval fee.
Minimum duration and early deletionnot publishedThe checked comparison text does not support an early-mutation calculation.
Minimum object sizenot publishedNo small-object floor is inferred.
Cold Archive5 rules

Long-retention archive data when a 180-day commitment and an incompletely published restore bill are acceptable.

Published rules that move the bill for Cold Archive
RuleValueWhy it moves the bill
Storage$0.002 per GiB-monthThe lowest captured storage rate does not imply the lowest recovery bill.
Retrievalnot publishedOVHcloud says retrieval fees apply but the checked Cold Archive text does not expose the rate, so a restore total must stop.
Public outgoing traffic and S3 operationsnot charged in the captured worldwide price listIncluded transfer cannot be interpreted as free retrieval.
Minimum storage duration180 days with a prorated early-deletion remainderA mutation can owe months of remaining storage. Reading the archive cannot.
Minimum object sizenot publishedNo small-object uplift is supported.
