Amazon S3 Glacier Deep Archive: each file must be restored before you can download it, which takes up to 12 hours, and Amazon S3 bills each file for at least 180 days.

Oracle OCI Object Storage Archive: each file must be restored before you can download it (Oracle says the first byte comes back within an hour, but not when the whole file is ready), and Oracle bills each file for at least 90 days.

Questions buyers ask about Backblaze B2

What does average monthly storage mean for the B2 egress allowance?

Backblaze calculates the average from byte-hours over the billing cycle. Deleting data near month-end does not retroactively shrink that average. The free first 10 GB of storage is a separate rule and is not subtracted before the egress allowance is worked out.

Does B2 charge me for deleting or overwriting data early?

Not on the Pay-As-You-Go offer. It has no minimum file size, minimum storage duration, or minimum capacity commitment, so delete, overwrite, or move does not create a prorated early-deletion remainder.

Can I use B2 as an immutable backup target?

Yes, conditionally. B2 Object Lock supports governance, compliance, and legal hold. Compliance retention cannot be removed and can only be extended. Backblaze publishes a 1 to 3,000 day retention range and a Veeam-oriented setup path.

Can I mix B2 Pay-As-You-Go, Overdrive, and Reserve terms in one comparison?

No. We price Pay-As-You-Go. Overdrive starts from a different storage price and includes unlimited egress, while Reserve is a committed offer. Their terms cannot be compared with the self-service offer until you know which exact offer applies.
