Wasabi pricing for backup storage
Wasabi Hot Cloud Storage has a simple storage rate and no metered retrieval or API-request charge, but the invoice and recovery plan are governed by three non-obvious rules: a 1 TB monthly minimum, a 90-day minimum storage duration, and an egress policy whose excess has no published per-GB price.
Price your own workload against every vendor, including the worst-day restore and how long it takes to come back.
What the pricing page does not lead with
Pay As You Go has a 1 TB minimum billable monthly capacity.
Small accounts do not receive a sub-$7.99 storage bill merely because their measured bytes are below 1,024 GB.
Source, checked 2026-07-25T15:34:44ZObjects have a 90-day minimum storage duration.
Deleting data before day 90 can bill the unused remainder. Reading or restoring the data without mutation does not.
Source, checked 2026-07-25T15:34:44ZEgress above active storage is governed by policy and has no published overage price.
A recovery estimate that crosses the 1x guideline cannot produce a complete dollar total from the published terms.

The rest of this vendor's non-obvious rules4 more
Free API requests are also policy-shaped: Wasabi can limit or suspend a non-validated application that creates an inefficient and unreasonable load.
There is no published per-request overage rate. A request-heavy receipt is conditional, not an unlimited $0 promise.
Source, checked 2026-07-26Pay as You Go - Commit bills the greater of committed or actual storage over one, three, or five years; Reserved Capacity Storage starts at 25 TB and uses a 30-day minimum duration instead of Pay As You Go's 90 days.
Those offers have different commitment, overage, and duration rules. Their quote-only rates cannot be substituted into the self-serve Pay As You Go receipt.
Source, checked 2026-07-26Pay As You Go records Timed Active Storage from a per-GB-per-day value and separately records Timed Deleted Storage until the minimum retention period expires.
A month-end capacity snapshot cannot reproduce a bill after mid-month uploads or deletions, and deleted bytes do not immediately disappear from billable usage.
Source, checked 2026-07-26Wasabi's trial permits up to 1 TB for 30 days and is not an ongoing monthly free tier.
Trial capacity cannot be subtracted from a recurring Pay As You Go bill after the trial period ends.

Billable storage = max(100 GB, 1,024 GB) = 1,024 GB. Storage = 1,024 x $0.007802734375 = $7.99. Egress equals active storage, so the metered egress line is $0.00 while the policy remains applicable. Requests and retrieval are not charged. The restore does not mutate the source, so early deletion does not apply.

| Egress excess of 1 GB | not published |

| Early deletion | does not apply |
| Total | not published |
The guideline is 1 x 1,024 GB active storage = 1,024 GB. Egress is 1,025 GB, so the excess is 1 GB. Wasabi publishes a policy consequence but no per-GB overage rate. The scenario therefore stops at not published rather than treating the excess as free.

| First 30 days of storage | $7.99 |
|---|---|
| Remaining 60 minimum-duration days | $15.98 |
| Egress and retrieval | does not apply |
| Total | $23.97 |
The 90-day minimum is three 30-day billing periods for this worked boundary. First-period storage is $7.99. The 60-day remainder is 2 x $7.99 = $15.98. Total minimum-duration storage is $7.99 + $15.98 = $23.97. This is a delete scenario; a read-only restore would not create the remainder.

Storage is $7.99 and egress at 1 x active storage has no metered charge. Wasabi publishes no per-request overage rate, but it may limit or suspend a non-validated application that creates inefficient and unreasonable load. The scenario preserves that conditional policy instead of presenting unlimited requests as an unconditional zero-cost promise.

| Timed Deleted Storage for the remaining 80 days | $21.3067 |

Using the worked 30-day month, Timed Active Storage = $7.99 x 10/30 = $2.6633. Deletion on day 11 leaves 80 days of the 90-day minimum, so Timed Deleted Storage = $7.99 x 80/30 = $21.3067. Total = $23.97. A month-end capacity snapshot would miss the deleted-storage line.

Every class, and the rules that change its bill

Hot Cloud Storage6 rules
S3-compatible hot object storage for backups that do not need a separate cold-tier restore step.
| Rule | Value | Why it moves the bill |
|---|---|---|
| Storage rate | $0.007802734375 per GB-month, equal to $7.99 per 1,024 GB-month | The rate is applied to active storage subject to the 1 TB monthly minimum. |
| Minimum billable capacity | 1,024 GB per account-month | An account storing less than 1 TB still has a $7.99 storage line. |
| Minimum storage duration | 90 days with a prorated remainder when an object is deleted early | Deleting a young object can leave its remaining minimum-duration storage bill. A read-only restore does not activate this charge. |
| Egress policy | conditional: monthly egress at or below active storage has no egress fee; repeated excess can lead to limitation or suspension | This is a policy boundary, not a paid overage tier. The dollar rate beyond the boundary is not published. |
| API requests and retrieval | not charged | Class A, Class B, and data retrieval add no metered dollar line in the captured offer, although Wasabi's separate API-use policy still applies. |
| Minimum billable object size | not published | The checked official pricing material does not support a small-object uplift, so the page does not invent one. |
